Catherine is a NZ registered dietitian working in Christchurch. She graduated in 2003, worked in various clinical roles in Christchurch and the United Arab Emirates before undertaking a Master of Science and then a PhD through the University of Otago (Christchurch). In 2017, Catherine completed a PhD in exclusive and partial enteral nutrition to treat adult Crohn’s disease. Thereafter, she worked at King’s College London and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust with Dr Miranda Lomer (RD) on an 18-month post-doctoral fellowship. During her post-doc she developed an outpatient IBD nutritional self-screening tool, completed a literature review of dietary treatments for IBD and helped developed an economic business case model for better IBD dietitian NHS services. She returned to Christchurch in April 2019 and launched Gut Nutrition, an IBD specialist private practice. I also work at the University of Otago as a research fellow in the Department of Medicine Christchurch and am a lecturer on the Master of Dietetics programme, Department of Human Nutrition Dunedin.
